Today, use of artificial polymers (are usually originated from petroleum) and low rate of their decomposition cause serious environmental pollutions. One approach toward solving this problem is to replace apart of synthetic polymers with biodegradable such as oxo-degradable polymers
Oxo-degradable Masterbatch
Oxo-biodegradable polymers, is often referred to as “degradable” polymer, are 100% biodegradable and within a few years these fully embrace the environmental cycle.
The oxidative (pro-degradent) additives in these products causes the oxidation of polyolefin chains when exposed to heat or sunlight. Break down of molecular structure of polymer will eventually be in a state where it can be digested by microorganisms. At this point, the polymer will degrade at a faster rate until it has fully degraded into carbon dioxide, water, and biomass.

This masterbatch is added to polymers with less than 1% and can be degraded. Properties of the polymer is remained during use, and then it can quickly degrades after exposure to the environment.
With this masterbatch does not need to change the technology of producing the polymeric products and production of degradable polymers are possible with existing machines without the need to invest in the provision of new equipment.
