Sunlight is a powerful source of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Exposure of plastics to the UV rays of the sun and oxygen in the air can cause chemical bonds to break and eventually destroy them through a photo-oxidation process. This process can cause adverse effects such as changes in the appearance of the product (change in color, change in gloss and/or whitening), loss of mechanical and physical properties, and the formation of visible defects such as cracks and fractures. Therefore, products that are exposed to sunlight for a long time should be protected against this destruction. For this purpose, optical stabilizers (UV stabilizers) are used under the title of anti-ultraviolet masterbatch to improve the resistance of the plastic mixture to sunlight. These materials prevent the destructive effects of light on plastics. Optical stabilizers inhibit the polymer degradation process by inhibiting active intermediates or competitive absorption of harmful UV rays

The anti-ultraviolet masterbatch of Basta Polymer Iranians with the brand name Belight ® is designed and formulated based on different parameters and types of polymers. This masterbatch is produced to provide maximum protection of polymers against the destructive effects caused by sunlight, heat and oxygen and has a significant effect in maintaining the properties of polymers.
